Kid Icarus: Infinite Underworld is an absolute gem of a game! The randomly generated levels keep the gameplay fresh and exciting, while the intense boss chase add an extra layer of adrenaline. It's a fun twist on the classic NES title, good work!

Thank you for the kind words! Cool to see that people still sometimes find this game!

Absolutely amazing!
This game is super addicting and I'm sure someday it will be popular in the Kid Icarus community.
Though it has extreme potential to become even greater than it currently is.

Here is my suggestion:
You should add more elements/content from the original Kid Icarus. I'll explain what they are and how much they reasonably cost.
Such as the following:

Crystal Rod- Once active, the Crystal Rod graces Pit with the protection of two crystals. These crystals will revolve around Pit continuously, crashing into any enemy that dares to get too close to him. This can be useful for weaker enemies. It should cost 120 Hearts and it lasts for 1:30 before vanishing. (It will only appear in shops at 600m+)

Mirror Shield- Once active, the Mirror Shield will reflect all projectiles dealing x2 the damage. Damage taken will be reduced by 10% but you could only reflect so many projectiles/Getting Hit before it breaks. This should cost 150 Hearts. (This will only appear in shops at 600m+)

Arrow of Light- This would be super helpful if Pit is up at 2000m+  You'll only get 1 shot before losing this single arrow. It's mainly used to destroy the Orne. Although another Orne will spawn around 2 minutes with a permanent minor speed boost after respawning. This should cost 210 hearts. (This will only appear in shops at 1600m+)

Pegasus Wings- This helpful item will make Pit have infinite jumps for 15 seconds. If Pit falls down to his death, he will automatically jump to avoid his death; removing the Pegasus Wings instantly. This should cost 150 Hearts. (This will only appear in shops at 800m+)

Harp- This is more of a rare, randomly appearing item that will turn all enemies into hammers. Just like the original game.  (Chance of it appearing on screen is 2% & The Orne will not be affected whatsoever.)

Credit Card- The credit card is a rare item that can only be won in treasure rooms that provides Pit with the ability to purchase items from the store on credit. After being used, any hearts collected immediately go towards paying off the debt.

Treasure Pot- Eight treasure pots can be found in each treasure room. Shooting one with an arrow costs five hearts. The god of poverty is hiding inside one of these pots and will appear unless that pot is the last one struck.
(Treasure Room Doors may instead be a trap room full of Specknoses.)

Bottle of Life- Possession of a Bottle of Life will keep Pit alive after he loses all of his health. Pit will automatically restore one bar of health for every bottle he possesses whenever he runs out of life. Without the barrel, you can only hold one Bottle of Life at a time. This should cost 100 hearts. (This will only appear in shops at 800m+)

Barrel - What's better than holding one Bottle of Life? Holding eight of them. But you'll never be able to hold more than one without this barrel. This should cost 280 Hearts. (This will only appear in shops at 1200m+)

-------
  And most importantly, more enemies.
(The extra enemies from the original game should spawn at higher meters to offer a more fun challenge.)

It would be such a phenomenal update if you can make this happen, Mathew.

Thank you for reading this.

Hello! Apologies for not responding to this message until now! I don't think I'll be updating Infinite Underworld, but I would love to make a sequel to it someday, although maybe without the Kid Icarus brand due to copyright. I really like a lot of your ideas, and adding more replayability via things like adding more enemies   and items to make runs more diverse would definitely be a goal for a potential sequel  . Something like including the Credit Card I think would be a good fit considering the game focuses a lot  on shops. And also your idea for adding in the small challenge rooms like the original Kid Icarus was  something I considered but didn't end up adding. They most likely would have taken the form of horizontal areas similar to the surface areas or dungeons of the original games.

Might have been fun, but I didn't really get very far. I guess a lot of folks seem to like having mouse buttons for attacking, but I've never been able to get used to that in 2d games. It would be nice to be able to re-map the keys.
